Complete

1+1=6

It will be a month on Friday since we became a family of 6. I didn't think it was possible to feel this amazing both spiritually and physically after having my 4th child. I feel so completely blessed by God. It might be a little cliché to say this, but WE ARE COMPLETE!  I've said it after each one of my babies, and it's more true every single time. I love them all so much.

Bringing baby Seth home scared me a bit because I didn't know how Lucas was going to react- he's been the only little one in the house for the last three years. It also didn't help that he expressed his dislike for Seth before he was even born. All of that worry turned out to be for nothing. Lucas has been such a wonderful help. He loves to be present during diaper changes, grabbing the diaper and exactly two wipes each time, handing them to me when I need them. Quietly standing there talking baby talk and caressing Seth, keeping him calm. Whenever I grab my camera to take photos of Seth, Luke is right there, "Mom, take a picture of me and Seth." He's in almost every photo I have taken of Seth. It's so sweet how much he loves his little brother, his new best friend.

My boys...
Lucas wouldn't let Jacob hold Seth in this photo, he HAD to do it.

Of course Karlee and Jacob have been amazing, they always are. They've picked up the slack a bit when it comes to chores and other random things Shawn and I need help with. It makes me so sad how old they are getting- it goes by so fast, I wish I could just bottle them up and keep them little forever. I remember when it was just the two of them...2 little babies in diapers at the same time. I was so young, I don't know why God thought I deserved them or trusted me, but I'm glad he did- I couldn't ask for better kids. All 4 of them are simply amazing<3

XOXO

First Day of School 2014

A Fresh Start

Today was our first day of school- Karlee 7th grade, Jacob 5th grade, and Lucas is on another year of preschool, so of course we had to go out and do our annual "First Day of School" photos. I really like how this years turned out...enjoy!:)

May 13th 2014

I thought for sure I would have time to update a blog at least once a week- I was very WRONG!
Posting everything to Facebook is much easier:)

The kids have been keeping a small list of how God is showing his faithfulness in their lives, but I haven't quite decided how I want to share it; all at once or each week. Some of their stories and moments they have asked me not to share, so I will honor that request.

Here is a moment of God's faithfulness in Jacob's life:
"I was having a bad day so I went outside. A butterfly landed near me and put a smile on my face."

I think I might just wait for the journal to fill up a bit more before I share a large chunk of moments.

Stacking Stones

I decided months ago that I wanted to start a blog- I just didn't know how to go about it. Well, after this evening's current Bible study, Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts, I have finally found something I would enjoy blogging about; The Lord's faithfulness in my family's lives. Ann Voskamp refers to a tradition found in Joshua 4 - the people of Israel stacked stones to serve as a reminder of God's faithfulness. In the study she asks us to find a way to "stack stones," to remember, to collect memories that we can retell and pass on to our children; a picture a day, a journal, a program on your iPad etc. I really like the idea of keeping a blog.
So I've asked my kids to begin collecting their own memories of God's goodness in their lives starting tomorrow. I can't wait to see what my children come up with in the coming weeks, months, and hopefully years. Maybe this will help each of us slow down a bit and recognize the gifts God has placed right in front of us.
